Miu Miu Signatures: The Tie Vest

Launched on the Spring/Summer 2026 Paris runway, the tie vest, in cotton poplin, knit or suede is an abbreviated garment with side ties that allow it to adapt to different functions. With its origins in utility- wear and uniform, it is the perfect example of Miu Miu’s ongoing fascination with referencing clothing with a highly specific function and with meaning embedded in its seams, and taking it somewhere else, somewhere new.

Now reiterated in signature Miu Miu fabrications, the tie vest is perfect for layering and may be worn over a shirt, T-shirt, sweater or dress to narrow the silhouette or, more surprisingly, under jackets andcoats to abbreviate volume. Finally, it may be worn alone, against, or revealing discreet glimpses of, the skin.

What may seem like a small gesture is, in fact, an uplifting, light-hearted and characteristically personal expression of individuality, a fusion of fashion and function, innovation and style. The vest, in this instance, is decontextualised, then recontextualised, as an inspirational and transformative garment in its own right.
