Designed by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for their debut Spring Summer 2026 runway collection, the Amazona 180 revisits one of LOEWE’s most storied bags through a modern lens. Its name signals both a new beginning and a continuity: marking LOEWE’s 180-year anniversary with a celebration of the House’s foundations, and a renewal of an essential shape in its leather vocabulary for the past five decades.
First introduced in 1975, the Amazona emerged at a moment of societal and cultural shift in Spain. Designed for a new generation of women entering the workplace, it abandoned rigid, ornamental structures in favour of a softer, more agile shape attuned to daily life.
Originally crafted in gold suede with brown leather piping and embossed with Vicente Vela’s newly created Anagram, the Amazona was the highlight of Ante Oro — a pioneering collection that established LOEWE’s first soft bags and set a new, modern rhythm for the House. While its colours, proportions and materials have evolved with time, its essence of ease and poise has never wavered.
The Amazona 180 continues this lineage. Rendered in a new, exquisitely soft calfskin developed specifically for the style, with a subtle shine and a silky touch, the bag takes on a relaxed silhouette anchored by a single toron top handle. Conceived as a two-faced bag, it is designed to be carried open, revealing a slouchy attitude and a new double-L branding introduced across categories, including ready-to-wear, accessories and leather goods. Yet a concealed magnetic closure keeps the main compartment secured, keeping personal essentials protected while preserving both the Amazona’s discreet practicality and nonchalance.
Amazona 180 is defined by its distinctive craft. Structure and suppleness are held in balance through two meticulously assembled compartments, precise leather binding throughout, and the Amazona’s signature domed squares at each side. Every detail has been honed with intent, from the interior flat pocket to the left-side D-ring that invites personalisation.
Functionality remains integral. Varying by size, the Amazona 180 offers three carry options — short handle, removable shoulder strap and crossbody — making it adaptable across contexts and seasons. It is available in soft calfskin or suede, and comes in a rich colour palette: Black, Dark Chestnut, Royal Azur, Ink Navy, Daisy Yellow, Lava Grey and White, alongside the iconic Gold/Chocolate combination for the suede version. The bag proposes a versatile family of sizes — Mini, Small and Large — complemented by a line of charms.
Launching February 26, the Amazona 180 marks a conscious turn. It revisits a defining form, seen from another angle, to carry it forward. Continuity shaped into renewal.
