Harmonies, symbioses and contradictions – a language of color distinct to Prada. The Prada fine jewelry collection by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons focuses on absolute, intense color, simultaneous dualities and nuances expressed in unanticipated combinations of unconventional, unpredictable gemstones.
Each chosen for their exceptional chromatic value, their place within a Prada spectrum, gemstones of amethyst, aquamarine, madeira citrine, pink morganite and oro-verde peridot are contrasted, in dichotomies that challenge notions of preciosity in a mirror of Prada’s constant and insistent interrogation of luxury.
The sempiternal beauty of these gems, and the place of jewelry as an echo of the lives of women, forms a foundation for campaign imagery. Simultaneously, it underscores an essential exploration of the ideology of color, of contrast, and of subversion of convention through classicism.
The actors Maya Hawke and Kim Tae-Ri, and poet and activist Amanda Gorman, are captured in arresting monochrome portrait, each image then recontextualized as a canvas for subtle veils of transparent, translucent color, faces framed as if set within a jewel.
Against this dreamlike ambiance, jewelry pieces are highlighted in their actual hues, the abstracted shades behind lending them a new hyperreality. These timeless portraits underscore an archetypical form language – drop earrings, solitaire rings, line bracelets and rivière necklaces – yet, through color, the meaning is fundamentally shifted.
Our traditional perceptions of these pieces are challenged, radicalized, through their asymmetry and proportion, their disrupted gems, their intentional but unexpected contrasts. Delicately set, stones appear to float around these faces – the jewels liberated, like their radiant color.
Each Prada Fine Jewelry Couleur Vivante piece has been recorded on the Aura Consortium blockchain, enabling customers to verify the item’s authenticity. As a mark of exceptional transparency, customers will also be able to access images showing
the gemstone’s transformation from rough all the way through to cut and polished.
A grading certificate from a leading independent gemological laboratory will accompany each gemstone within the jewelry, containing key information and attesting to the match between the cut stones and the rough stones from which they came.
